– Back to the Garage! –
The latest album from The Dark Marbles titled Back to the Garage! is a look back at some of the cover songs the band has played in their live shows since forming in 1987. Formed in Buffalo with the vision of a garage rock power pop outfit by Paul Roalsvig under his nom de guerre Yod Crewsy (former Jacklords and Splat Cats member) the band currently is based out of Long Lake, NY in the Adirondack Mountains where they recorded the album at Viking Ship Studios. The album was mixed by Justin Rose at Good Charamel Studios. Assisting Crewsy (guitar, vocals, bass) on the disc are Eric C. Peter (lead guitar, background vocals), Peter Heckenberg (drums), Steve Signell (mandolin), Jonathan “Rocky” Belcher (keyboards), Tom Smith (sax) and John Weyl (lead guitar). Great stuff over twenty one tracks including “Another Girl, Another Planet (The Only Ones but probably better known by The Replacements or blink 182 versions), “Dizzy” (Tommy Roe), “Femme Fatale” (Velvet Underground), “I’m Not Your Stepping Stone” (The Monkees), “I Got A Line on You” (Spirit) and “Too Much to Dream (The Electric Prunes). Digging deeper for further gems you’ll get “It’s Cold Outside (The Choir), “Miracle Worker” (The Chocolate Watchband), “Sometimes Good Guys Don’t Wear White” (The Standells) my personal favorite “Timothy” (The Buoys) and the lone Crewsy original the surf rock instrumental “Groovin’ in the Basement”. Back To The Garage! is a great album to chase away the winter blues or to get your summer pool party swinging. Check it out at www.darkmarbles.com
